Siblings JC and Jody Asper preserved 134 acres in northern Adams
County in Huntington and Tyrone Townships. Originally belonging to their
paternal grandparents, Paul and N. Beatrice Asper, their parents Jack and
Jane Asper acquired the land in 1987. JC and Jody inherited it after both
parents passed away and now use the name 4J Farm, reflecting the first
names of the immediate family – Jack, Jane, Jody, and JC.
Conservation easements are a tool to preserve land while keeping it
under private ownership. As a legal agreement between a landowner
and a land trust (such as the Land Conservancy) that apply to all future
owners, a conservation easement permanently protects open space and
conservation values such as ecological, scenic, wildlife, or agricultural
resources.
