John’s grandparents established residency on this stretch of Brickcrafters
Road over a hundred years ago, buying a farm in 1903. In 1937 John’s
parents bought the farm across the road, where they raised him and his
four older sisters. John acquired it from them in 1976, as well as 5 acres
that had been part of his grandparents’ farm that got separated when
Brickcrafters Road was re-aligned in the late 1960s.
John’s parcel adjoins a farm already preserved by the County’s
Agricultural Land Preservation Program. It has 46 acres that are used to
grow crops and 55 acres of forestland, open meadows, and riparian
areas. Swift Run meanders along the eastern side of the property for
approximately ¾ of a mile.
